Project K-MUSE, an innovative initiative of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, successfully completed its first international engagement in celebration of the International Museum Day, on 18th May 2024. Four faculty and twelve PhD scholars from the Project K-MUSE benefitted from the online capacity building intensive and cultural exchange with the prestigious Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney, Australia.

The session commenced with a welcome by Dr. Andrew Simpson, President, International Committee for University Museums and Galleries of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), Paris. It was followed by a brief introduction to the University of Sydney and the Chau Chak Wing Museum. The programme was convened by Jane Thogersen and Eve Guerry, the two academic engagement curators, and served a diverse range of curricula and faculty across the university with object-based learning experiences. They demonstrated object-based learning for the KISS team with select collections from the Chau Chak Wing Museum. Following discussion, the Project K-MUSE team from KISS presented fifteen objects that they selected as being significant to them. Dr. Bernice Murphy, former Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and former Vice President of ICOM, Paris, commended the KISS team for their dedication to Project K-MUSE,

The coordination in Sydney was done by Prof Dr. Amareswar Galla, Pro Chancellor, KISS & former Vice President of ICOM, Paris. It was facilitated from KISS by Project K-MUSE leads Dr. Sushree Mohanty and Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon. A series of such international capacity building programmes are planned with experts from different countries and museums.
