Puri, [Date-8.8.2025] (Report :Ranjan )– In a unique and impactful initiative aimed at promoting road safety, students of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Balukhanda, Puri, organized a creative awareness program in collaboration with the Odisha Road Safety Society, the local Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI), and the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Puri. The focus of this program was to highlight the crucial importance of wearing helmets for bikers.

In an effort to catch the attention of the local community, the students actively participated in a “Helmet Awareness Campaign” that took place on the Marine Drive Road at Balukhanda. The most striking feature of this campaign was when the students tied symbolic knots using colored ribbons to the bike riders who were seen riding without helmets. The knot represented a symbolic "tie" to road safety and an urgent reminder to follow traffic rules.

The program began with an insightful session led by the local MVI and RTO officials. They emphasized the rising number of road accidents due to the failure to wear helmets and explained the serious consequences of such negligence. They also addressed the legal implications for bike riders who do not adhere to the helmet law, which mandates the use of helmets for both the rider and the pillion.

After the session, the students, who were given reflective vests and safety guidelines, moved to the Puri-Konark Marine Drive Road at Balukhanda. As part of the campaign, they approached bikers who were not wearing helmets and tied a symbolic knot of colored ribbons on their hands. The students also shared important road safety messages with the riders, urging them to make a commitment to safety by wearing helmets.
