BBSR: SO AM I Foundation celebrated its 5thAnniversary with its Annual Event “SAMARPAN” on 23rd August 2024 at Railway Auditorium Bhubaneswar. This function was graced by Hon'ble Minister Shri PrithvirajHarichandan, Minister-Law, Works & Excise, Govt of Odisha & Hon'ble Minister DrKrushna Chandra Mohapatra- Minister Housing, Urban Development & Public Enterprises, GovtOf Odisha. Chairperson of SO AM I Foundation Shri Debi PrasannaPattnayak was also present on the occasion.To mark this significant milestone, the Foundation with support from eminent Music Director, Composer & Musical Scientist of Odisha PremAnandhosted a musical function called “Harmony For Humanity” that featured many eminent artists- Shashank Sekhar, DiptiRekhaPadhi& voice of Odisha sensations SheetalKunmun&Satyabrat. Famous Stand Up Comedian PappuPomPom entertained the crowd with his humour.The highlight of the evening was felicitation of individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond in their service to humanity with the 3 SAI Awards namely SAI SHRI, SAI BHUSHAN & SAI SAHAYA.This year, SAI BHUSHAN was awarded to Pediatric Cancer Seva Home Umeedein, Bhubaneswar. Umeedein supports children with cancer by providing them free food, accommodation, nutrition, guidance & conveyance due to which the treatment drop out rate of Pediatric Hematology Oncology unit of AIIMS Bhubaneswar has reduced from 28% in 2018 to 6.2% in 2023 SAI SHRI was awarded to notable social worker Shri Rudra Narayan Samantray of Jai Odisha for his immense contribution to society.SAI SAHAYA award is being presented to Shri TanujMohanty& Shri Ajay Agarwal, acknowledging their constant support for the various causes & initiatives of SO AM I Foundation.These awards would be SO AM I Foundation’s symbolic commitment to encouraging & recognizing selfless acts of kindness & dedication.On this occasion, the Acting Chairperson Ms. SonaliMohanty elaborated on the activities being done by So Am I Foundation. The First Food Bank of Odisha was opened by So Am I Foundation in 2019, So Am I’s community kitchen started in November 2020 facilitated the cooking & subsequent distribution of nearly 2,00,000 cooked meals in lunch & dinner during the 1st& 2nd phase of Covid 19. Around 200 young boys and girls have been trained in Mehendi application,Beauty & Wellness Training, Cookery under the Swa- Aahar Initiative have made them financially empowered & self-reliant32 drug addicts have been engaged in the GarmaGaram initiative of SO AM I Foundation wherein vending carts, equipments, start up kits have been provided to help them earn a decent living thereby bringing them into the mainstream.SO AM I Foundation has been providing cooked food to about 600 people daily in AIIMS Bhubaneswar since the last 619 days & around 250 people daily in SCB Medical College, Cuttack since the last 267 days.
SO AM I Foundation also shared their future plans of creating awareness of the growing issue of suicide& launched another initiative Swa-Jeevan. This initiative aims at counselling younger generation & creating awareness. The highlight of the event featured a powerful new song composed by eminent music director PremAnand& sung by budding singer Nishaad Mishra. In the coming days, SO AM I Foundation wishes to create a Clothes Bank& a Junior Wing of So Am I Foundation, the members of which will be taken in the age group of 14 to 25.Also present in the function was founder SjriPinakiMohanty, Co FounderSmtChidatmikaKhatua, Trustees Poonam Mohapatra, NamritaChahal, SuchetaKhatoi, Arvind Agarwal, Aditya Agarwal, Sanjeeb Acharya &SubhenduParida.
