Students of KIIT University delved into Japanese culture in collaboration with visiting students from Doshisha University, Japan, during an interactive cultural event on 1st March 2024. The event was curated and organized by Ms. Mami Kimura, a native Japanese language instructor and JICA volunteer, on behalf of the KIIT School of Language & Literature (KSLL).Supervised by a high-level delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japanese cultural event fostered student interaction and received encouragement for their efforts.During the Japanese cultural event at KIIT, students immersed themselves in four distinct Japanese cultural experiences. At the Hashi (chopsticks) booth, they honed their chopstick skills by picking up beans. The Game booth offered them the chance to try their hand at traditional Japanese games like kendama and otedama. At the Shuji (Japanese calligraphy) booth, students practiced writing their names in Japanese characters. Finally, at the Nigongo (Japanese language) booth, they engaged in conversations with Japanese university students, introducing themselves in Japanese as they had learned in their Japanese class.Dr. Nitin Sharma, Associate Dean, KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering, also participated in this engaging and enriching learning activity. This Japanese cultural event at KIIT, a first-of-its-kind activity at the university, aimed to create a Japanese learning ecosystem and promote cultural exchange among youth, ultimately strengthening India-Japan bilateral relations through people-to-people contact.
