Inauguration of Orion 2023 – The Annual Cultural, Sports and Business Fest of Sri Sri

The Annual Cultural, Sports and Business Fest of Sri Sri University – Orion 2023 began with
a mega Inaugural Ceremony on the 27th of January 2023 at the Sri Sri University campus. This year Orion hosts more than 30 inter-college events in sports, culture and business named as Shaurya, Umang ad Takshak respectively. The ceremony was graced by Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister, Dept. of Science & Technology, Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities & Public Enterprises Government of Odisha, as the Chief Guest. The Inaugural Ceremony of Orion started with Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty, Director HRDC, performing the Gurupuja which filled the air with the sonority of its hymns. This was followed by the guests lighting the lamp, as the students of Sri Sri Gurukul induced vibrancy and tranquility into the surrounding with their divine vedic chants. Captain Chandra Shekhar Panda, Director Student Affairs, welcomed the gathering and pondered thoughts on the nine years of journey of Orion nurtured by the students and management of Sri Sri University. Prof. B.R. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sri Sri University commended the experiential knowledge obtained by independently organizing Orion at such a large scale and wished the best of wishes for the upcoming fest. Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, took the podium and threw light on the significance of demographic dividend by saying that “Youth is the power and hope of the nation”. He mentioned that the Government of Odisha, under the able guidance of Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, endorses the power of art and culture as it ascends the petty boundaries of discrimination. He claimed that Orion is the definition of “knowledge with finer sensibility”. He applauded Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji for his invaluable contributions towards upholding culture, knowledge and heritage all across the globe after which he declared the fest, Orion 2023 open. The ceremony witnessed the melodious Hindustani music and the mesmerizing Odissi dance performance, by the students of Performing Arts, which depicted the Eastern values glorified by the University. The event ended by offering a vote of thanks to the mentors, participating teams, alumni, student coordinators of the organizing committee, media friends, SSU leadership and Management.
